The Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce will host the AGM on Wednesday, July 8, 2009 

The meeting will be followed at 5:30 p.m. with a welcoming reception for the Honorary Members of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce the Honourable Paulo Cordeiro de Andrade Pinto, Ambassador of Brazil to Canada and Ambassador Americo Dyott Fontenelle, Consul General of Brazil in Toronto.

The AGM is the main networking opportunity with the board of directors and other members of the organization. This is also our way to thank you for being a member of the Chamber and encourage you to continue your active participation

Belo Horizonte - Brazil

EXPOSIBRAM 2009 and The 13th Brazilian Mining Congress

Exposibram 2009 – Brazil’s International Mining Exhibition, will be held simultaneously with the 13th Brazilian Mining Congress in Belo Horizonte in the State of Minas Gerais on September 21-24, 2009.

The Event is the largest mining show in Brazil and the ideal place to meet buyers, potential agents and partners, and get a first-hand appreciation of the size of the market and competition.

In 2007, Exposibram attracted 45,000 visitors in to the exhibition, 470 exhibitors from 22 countries and over 1,500 delegates to the mining congress.

Brazil is Coming to Toronto at INDY Racing Speeds

In 2009, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency became the official Energy and Trade Partner of the IndyCar Series. Encompassing energy, promotion and trade between Brazil and the United States, Apex-Brasil is inviting all IndyCar fans to Experience the Brazilian Energy.

Another Brazilian institution is already a very important component of the IndyCar structure. UNICA, the Brazilian Sugarcane Industry Association, supplies the fuel for all cars in all races.

“This powerful marketing platform created by Apex-Brasil, is a fundamental part of our partnership with the IndyCar series,” says Alessandro Teixeira, President of Apex-Brasil.

Brazil Auto Production Rises for 2nd Month in June
( Reuters )

Automobile output in Brazil rose 8.4 percent in June from May, climbing for the second straight month as manufacturers stepped up production to meet growing consumer demand, the national automakers' association Anfavea said on Monday.

Sales also surged 21.5 percent in June from the previous month and 17.2 percent from June 2008, Anfavea said. On a year-on-year basis, output slumped 8.2 percent last month.

Brazil Creates Fisheries Ministry; Plans 40% Landings Increase in 3 Years

Brazilian president Lula da Silva sanctioned last week the bill which confers the Special Secretariat of Aquaculture and Fisheries, SEAP, the status of ministry, enacted to boost the fishing sector and develop the country’s maritime and fluvial potential.

The new ministry is responsible for national fisheries and aquaculture polices, including production, transport, processing, trading, supply, storage among others.

The creation of the new ministry is part of the Brazilian government long term strategy to increase fisheries production by 40% in the next three years.

Trade Between Brazil and Portugal Falls 45.5 pct in First Half

Trade between Brazil and Portugal in the first half of this year fell 45.5 percent year-on-year, to US$650 million, in line with the fall in world tarde, according to figures from Brazil’s Development, Industry and Foreign Trade Ministry.

Figures from the Ministry showed that Brazilian exports to Portugal fell by 49.7 percent year on year, to US$492.6 million.

For the main product exported to Portugal, oil, the drop was 64.2 percent – from US$338.5 million in the first six months of last year to US$121 million in the first half of 2009.

DuPont: Brazil, China to Lead Growth in Emerging Markets - Brazil

Brazil and China are expected to drive US chemical company DuPont's (NYSE: DD) growth in emerging markets, the company's Latin America president and global VP for emerging markets Eduardo Wanick told journalists at the inauguration of DuPont's technology center in Paulínia, São Paulo state.

Sales generated in emerging markets represent approximately 25% of the company's revenues worldwide. "However, our goal is to grow much further than that," Wanick said. According to the executive, emerging markets include the BRIC group ( Brazil, Russia, India and China), and countries from eastern Europe and southeast Asia.

This film series presents the Portuguese language as an importan link between the Brazilian and Portuguese cultures by examining different artistic expressions seen in cinema and literature.

The films will be presented in September, October and November at the University of Toronto and York University.
